The Redclaw industry is probable the only Aquaculture industry that has not yet developed a hatchery. All other aquaculture industries produce hatchlings/fry etc for sale to farmers for grow out. This relieves the farmer from having to maintain brood stock and have ponds tied up that could otherwise be producing redclaw for sale. |

For the first time Redclaw farmers will be able to stock a pond with an exact quantity of Redclaw hatchlings which reduces much of the guess work of management and husbandry ! All the hatchlings are exactly the same age and growth rates are more uniform. |

The Hatchlings are transported in a few litres of water filled with pure oxygen; this makes transport much easier and cheaper (with almost 100% survival in transport) than the old traditional way for transporting boxes of advanced juveniles at greater expense and higher mortality |
